John J. Allen, 76, d. at 6:30 p.m. Friday (Feb 15, 1952) after a heart attack at his home here (Cates). He had been ill two years.A retired farmer, Mr. Allen moved to Cates from the Veedersburg area 5 months ago. He was b. July 5, 1874 near Veedersburg, the son of Geo & Rose Allen. he was marr. in 1898 to Mabel E. Pigman who survives. He was a member of the Cates Evan United Bretheren Church. Other survivors in addition to the wife include a dau, Mrs. Ruby Arci of San Antonio Tx, three sisters, Mrs. Dora Barker, Mrs. Marg. Rennick and Mrs. Grace Clem, two bros William and Homer Allen and a grnadson, Robert Allen of Henderson Nev. The body is at the Fishero Fun. Home.



Cates -- Funeral services for John J. Allen, 76 will be at 2 p.m. Wedmesdau at Cates Evang. United Brethren Church. The Rev. John Baughman will officiate with burial in Cooper's Chapel Cem with Fishero Fun Home in charge. The body will be returned to the family residence Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Allen died at 6:30 p.m. Friday (Feb 15, 1951) at his home following a heart attack.

John J. Allen, 76 years old and a former resident of near Veedersburg died at 6:30 p.m. Friday Feb 15 (1952) at his home in Cates after a heart attack. He had been ill for two years. He retired from farming and moved from the Veedersburg area only five months ago. He was born July 5, 1875 near Veedersburg, the son of George and Rose Allen.  He was married in 1898 to Mabel E. Figman. He was a member of the Cates Evangelical United Brethren Church. Surviving are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Arci of San Antonio, Tex; three sisters, Mrs. Dora Baker, Mrs. Margaret Renick and Mrs. Grace Clem; two brothers, William and Homer Allen and a grandson, Robert Allen of Henderson, Nev.  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the EUB Church in Cates, conducted by Rev. John Baughman. Burial took place in Cooper’s Chapel cemetery.
